Sice trochu oneskorene, ale ešte sa vrátim k tohtoročným Grammy Awards, lebo boli viac než úspešne aj pre hip-hop. Tu je maly prehľad výsledkov: Svoje prvé tri grammy za Best R&B Album ("The Breakthrough"), Best R&B Song ("Be Without You"), Best Female Vocal R&B Performance ("Be Without You") si odniesla Mary. J. Blige. Justin Timberlake predviedol svoju ďakovnú reč dvakrát, pri preberaní cien za Best Rap/Sung Collaboration ("My Love" feat. T.I.) a Best Dance Recording ("Sexy Back"). Bodoval aj John Legend v Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals ("Family Affair" feat. Joss Stone & Van Hunt) a Best Male R&B Vocal Performance ("Heaven"). Z piatich nominácii premenili Gnarls Barkley dve na víťazstvo, a to za Best Alternative Music Album ("St. Elsewhere") a Best Urban/Alternative Performance ("Crazy"). Hip-hopovej sekcii dominoval Ludacris - vyhral Best Rap Album("Release Therapy"), keď prekvapujúco porazil aj The Roots a Lupe Fiasca, aj Best Rap Song("Money Maker"). T.I. bodoval v kategórii Best Rap Solo Performance("What You Know") a cenu za Best Rap Performance By A Duo Or Group si odniesol Chamillionaire a Krayzie Bone za "Ridin".
